We're always looking for ways to boost our search engine ranking and many people ask if setting up Google My Business will help with their search rankings.


So, does Google My Business help SEO? While setting up a Google My Business page will not affect your organic search results, getting your business found at the top of search results will be beneficial. Most local searches display Google My Business pages at the top of search results and if your business can be found there, you'll get more traffic to your site from Google.


Setting up and optimizing your Google My Business page does not increase your organic search results, it is pivotal in helping generate more leads from Google.



How to Generate More Leads from Google My Business


When setting up your Google My Business page, treat it just like you would optimize your website for SEO. This means, where every you can add keywords you should. Google My Business listings show up in search results based on the keywords that people type in (along with other ranking factors).


Pictures. Google My Business allows you to upload photos of your business. This is one area where a lot of people overlook incorporating keywords. The file names of your pictures should include your keywords! Make sure to rename your image files using your business's keywords.


Services. This might seem like a no-brainer, but when setting up your Google My Business profile, you'll want to highlight your services using specific keywords. For example, if you're a roofing company, don't just use the keyword roofing. Use should use specific keywords associated with lawn care such as metal roofing installers, architectural shingle roofing, roofing company, etc.


Business Description. There are a few different areas where you'll be prompted to give a description of your business. These are excellent places to include keywords about your business. Just like when you're writing keyword-rich content for your website, you'll want to use the same writing style for your business description on Google My Business.

 

Pro Tip

When adding keywords to your Google My Business page, make sure to include location-based keywords. Most people aren't going to search just roofing company. Many people will search roofing company in [name of city]. This is why it's a good idea to also incorporating the city/cities you service within each of the above areas where you can add keywords.
